The Library

This room was designed to feel warm, relaxed and quietly inviting - somewhere to retreat with a book, enjoy a quiet moment, or simply sit and unwind.

The soft yellow wall colour sets the tone for the space, bringing warmth and light while still feeling gentle and calming. I wanted the room to feel uplifting but not overly bright, allowing the natural materials and textures within the space to stand out.

The fireplace naturally became the focal point of the room. A simple oak mantel introduces warmth and character, while the log burner adds a sense of comfort and practicality during colder months. The darker stone hearth grounds the space and provides a subtle contrast against the softer tones throughout the room.

The built-in shelving was designed to feel both functional and personal. Libraries should always feel a little collected over time, so the shelves were styled with a mix of books, ceramics and small decorative objects to create interest without feeling overly arranged.

A patterned armchair sits beside the fire to create a quiet reading spot - a place where you can comfortably settle in and enjoy the room properly. Texture was important here, adding depth while still keeping the overall palette calm and cohesive.

The aim was to create a space that feels timeless, comfortable and full of quiet character - a room that naturally invites you to slow down and stay awhile.
